Frontier Markets ETF

Claymore Frontier Markets ETF

In mid-March, Claymore registered a Frontier Market ETF that will track the Frontier Market  Index. If the fund does in fact launch, it may be the first U.S. traded exchange traded fund that would be committed exclusively to frontier markets.

Frontier countries and the markets span many regions, and include the sub-Saharan Africa region, the Middle East, Eastern European countries, some southeast Asian and Pacific rim nations, and Central and South America nations.

Note, if you now hold an emerging markets ETF or fund, you will probably already have some very minimal exposure to maybe a few of the names that the Claymore fund will own. As an example, Poland, the Czech Republic, as well as Egypt are included in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index and ETF. But these nations accounted for tiny percent. They were 1.6%, 0.8%, and 0.7% of Vanguard Emerging Markets ETF.
